Rio Hondo Ecosystem Restoration Project
Building a Healthier Future for the Rio Hondo Ecosystem
About
the Project
The Rio Hondo Ecosystem Restoration Project is a significant step towards environmental conservation, as it will improve water quality and public access at Peck Road Water Conservation Park. Before stormwater from surrounding neighborhoods and industrial areas reaches the Rio Hondo River, it will be captured and cleaned, reducing pollution that enters our local waterways.
Here’s what’s happening on (and under) the ground!
Stormwater Cleanup: Treats runoff from over 10,600 acres.
Underground Treatment: Stores and filters runoff.
New Trails: Adds a path connecting to the Rio Hondo Bike Path.
Native Landscaping: Includes drought-tolerant plants and efficient irrigation.
Nature Features: Educational signs and habitat improvements for birds and wildlife.
